Happy 5th Birthday

Happy 5th Birthday to my son.

We celebrated his birthday last Saturday with families and friends.

This year we did not have big party, however I challenged to bake and decorate his birthday cake as his request.

This last 5 years fly so fast. He was 6lb 14oz, 20" tall baby. Now he is 44lb, 47" tall.
He can read and speak basic Japanese language.
He loves to play with his car and train, and he also love to drawing.
When I don't feel well, he wrote the card for me to cheer me up.
He is really sweet boy.

tooth pillow

My boy will be 5 years old next week!  Time fly so fast.
And some of his baby teeth started to wiggle!! I guess he will start to loose his first tooth soon.

He asked me to make his tooth pillow.  It is easy project for me, so I made extra tooth pillow for his cousins.

I cut the fabric 4.75" x 3.5" include saw allowance. The pocket part is 2.75" x 3.5".
If you have little kids, try to make own tooth pillow.

Addition, I attached the name tag to personalize.

My son stamped his name by himself. And he hung it on his bed.

Now he is ready to loose his teeth!

The  apple cake was really good. I should bake more in the apple season!







こんにちは。うちの息子も来週で5歳になります。時間の経つのは本当に早いもので、どうりで私の髪の毛にも白いものがちらほら。。。。
その息子ですが、夏ごろから下の歯と前歯がグラグラし始めました。まだまだ取れる気配はありませんが、きっとこの1年で1本くらい抜ける可能性があるかな？と前々からおねだりされていたToothPillowを作りました。
日本にはToothフェアリーなどという妖精はいませんよね（汗）私も息子ｌにToothフェアリーの話などしたことないのに、すっかりどこからか情報を仕入れてきて、歯と交換にお金をもらえることをしっていました。
息子の文を作るのと同時に、姪っ子甥っ子の分もまとめて作ってしまいました。これはクリスマスプレゼントとして渡そうかな？と思っています。

最後の写真はアップルパウンドケーキとそれを入れるあずま袋です。
りんごの美味しい季節になりましたね。生で食べるにはしゃきしゃきとした富士りんごが好きですが、お菓子用にはアメリカの真っ赤なりんごを使っています。
今度はタルトでも焼こうかな？

Bento box (lunch box)

My son started to bring his lunch once a week to stay longer at school.So I decided to make box lunch for him.
Box lunch is called " o bento " in Japanese.

I asked him what he want to bring for lunch. His answer is "takoyaki ".
Takoyaki is very popular food in Japan. I love it. However I need a special tool to make it.
His second request was "onigiri(rice ball)", egg, sausage.

This is his bento box.  This is kind of zakka. I saw some online store to sell Japanese lunch box.
I think Japanese bento box is getting popular in US.
There are a lot of variety. It is hard to choose from!


In addition, another cute bento komono(item) are available!

And this is his today's lunch.
I made pumpkin korokke (fried pumpkin), egg&cheese, little sausage, broccoli and tomato.

I can't believe some Japanese mom(or daddy) make such a pretty bento every morning!

息子が週１回お弁当を持って延長保育してもらうことになりました。リクエストはたこ焼きでしたが、家にはたこ焼ききもないし、朝から作っていられませんよね(汗)
結局、一般的なおにぎり、卵、たこさんウインナー等になりました。
小さいお弁当箱でしたが、おにぎりが別になったので、隙間を埋めるのに苦労しました。
日本のキャラ弁とは程遠いですが、かわいいピックなどを使ったので本人はとても嬉しそうでした。
お弁当の中身、週１でも考えるのがネタ切れです。
毎日かわいいお弁当を作っている日本のお母さんは本当にすごいと思います。
