pot holder

One of my good friend will move to Texas next month. Because of her husband's job.
I feel sad, because she is the first person whom I became a friend since I came to US.
Texas is far from California, but not so far like Japan. I will visit her someday.

She is really sweet person and good mother of two kids.
She is also best cook that I have ever met.  I learned a lot of recipe from her.
The meals I cook for the guest are almost from her recipe.

So that reason, I made pot holders for her as a gift.

The top image is patchwork pot holder. The fabric is from cosmo cricket, early bird collection.

I used this batting. (purchase from Joann) Have you ever used this batting?
I found it at Joann, it is for the pot holder. So you don't burn your hand.
I used two layer of batting for secure not to burn her hands.

I also made these two pot holders.
They are zakka style. The fabrics are from Japan.

decorative stitch.

There is no place like ho.....   OH!NO! I missed "me" of home..... miss cutting.....

There are the pockets to put your hands inside.

I remembered. Her home are decorated with red, blue and white. (american color!)
I picked red, blue and white to make this one. (These pretty fabric is the gift from my good sewing friend, Amy. Thank you Amy!)

I gave them to her when she and her family visited me last Saturday.
I hope she likes them.

She is very busy to prepare for moving, however she will have a party in her house tomorrow.
I will join her. I already baked brownies and another sweets to bring with me.

I hope everyone have happy holidays.

pouches and new fabrics

Hello everyone!
I have just added some zipper pouches in my etsy shop. Please have a look!

This one made from Amy Butler's fabric. I had small scrap left from making azuma bukuro bag.
I think it came out very pretty. how do you think?

Addition, I made two flat zipper pouches.

OH! Liberty!!  I purchased this cream yellow floral liberty print in Japan last year.
I made two other pouches from liberty last year and both of them were sold. Thank you!
If you love small floral pattern, this is the perfect!

I chose the purple mod pattern fabric for liner. The contrast of exterior and interior made the unique look of this pouch.
I think this purple fabric is from moda. But I am not sure.

Another flat zipper pouch!  I purchased this fabric to make the valance in the guest room. So I still have a lot!
Exterior fabric is home decor weight, so the pouch looks very strong. Good for the gift!

Love the color combination!
I have a lot of picture today.

Here is the fabrics that I purchased recently.
I wanted to make new azuma bukuro bag for my shop.

This combination would be great for the beach bag!

This is my favorite! These are Joel Dewberry, however it reminds me of Japan!
These two pattern are very similar of the Yukata fabric. (Yukata is Japanese kimono for summer. I have one, too.)

I can't wait to see how it turn out in azuma bukuro bags. :)

my son's room

This is my son's room. It is getting more cheerful and pretty. :)

As I said last time, I finished to make the valance for his window.

I chose this blue/green sun? star? flower? firework? pattern fabric.
I wanted the modern pattern with green, blue or yellow color.
This is home decor weight fabric.
If you have sewing experience, you may understand how I make the valance.
Sew the both of side, then bottom and top. very simple.

I finished up with straight look valance. I thought it is better for the boy's room.

I still have this fabric. So I am planing to make the seat cushion and fabric banner to match this room.

Except the valance, I and my son put the vinyl wall decals on the wall.
There is a big open wall in his room. I wanted to put something large object on the wall.
Tree growth chart is the perfect! Useful and this one is so pretty.

Door.

the corner of his room.

He helped me to make this train!

I purchased these vinyl art here.
tree growth chart : happy tree graphics
train and small tree : six under a tree studio

I am looking for the world map or USA map art for the other side of the wall in his room.
Oh! the grove is also nice to have...

My son made this at the school and gave it to me as the mother's day gift.

Thank you so much! I love you, too.

I baked "madeleine" for the mother's day gift. My husband's family live in same city.
I was very busy that day, so my husband bring them with message card for her.
I coundn't do anything for my mom living in Japan.
I called, she is doing well. My mom loves the gardening, so we talked a lot about the garden and flowers.

I hope everyone had a wonderful mother's day.

Echino Pillow case for my son's room

Today, I'd like to introduce these pillow cases.
I made these for my son's room.
Yes, the fabric is from Echino in Japan. Echino is one of my favorite designer.
And this fabric is home decor weight. It is perfect to make something for home decoration and bags.

I purchased these 3 pattern at mountain of the dragon for while ago.
I was looking for the fabric for the boys.
My son loves car, animals, bugs,,, so I wanted to choose something he likes, but not so much baby like design anymore.

Trust me. Just add Echino made the room so modern and cool!

Love them!

The pillow case is about 17" to 18" square. I bought FQ each, so I left little scrap from FQ.
I don't want to waste the Echino.

I used left over scrap to trim the edge the back side fabric.

This pillow case is also good for the living room sofa. :)
OH! This is the valance in his room now. This is from the previous owner.
Of course, my next project to change the valance in his room!

new valance for the guest room

I have just finished to make the valance for the guest room.

I chose the Amy Butler's home decor fabric. It is just $8 per yard! good price.
The color is just perfect match to the new wall.

I used same cutrain rail which the previous owner left for this window.

I had to sew two panels for this valance. So I tried to do my best to match the pattern. Is it ok to look??

I love cute mordern pattern like this. It added soft texture to the window. :)

423

Thank you so much for your support.
By today(5.1.11) I have raised $423 from my shop. And I sent all $423 to the American Red cross for Japan Earthquake and Tunami Relief.

I want to thank you all my customers to think about Japan and donate, leave a such a nice comment and message for my country.
I really appriciate your kind support.

Thank you very much!

Now I will be slow down to update my shop.
Because my husband and I have started the new backyard project.
The previous landscape of backyard is really awful. No sence to me at all.
We cut the tree down and now we have to dig all the dirt out.
Yes, it is a lot of work.
I will spend a lot of my time outside this summer to work!

Happy Monday everyone!
